Grace Miller

Name/Nickname: Grace

Hometown: Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia

Position(s): Center, Forward

Fun Fact: I have an extra vertebrae in my spine

Grace started off playing ringette in the U7 program with Harbour City Lakers at age 4  She recently won her third straight provincials with her HCL U16 Tier 1 team and has competed at other competitions like Atlantics and Easterns with the U16 NS A team. Ringette became one of her favorite things to do from a very young age, having 3 older sisters Grace grew up in the rink constantly watching and learning from them. Around age 11 Grace began helping out on the ice with her sister's U7 team and hasn't stopped since. She recently took over for her sister and became head coach of HCL’s U7 team and has loved every second of it. Her favorite part is helping all of the young kids fall in love with ringette just as she did at that age. Along with all of the great experiences Grace definitely had some difficult situations to overcome, she was hospitalized around Christmas of 2020 for almost 2 months with a new-onset chronic pain condition linked to severe endometriosis. After getting out of the hospital sometime in January she wasn't able to attend school normally for the rest of the year and this whole situation definitely had an effect on her personal relationships. This was a very big adjustment for her to have to learn how to keep living the same life she was before except doing it all while in very intense pain, every second of the day. Ringette became not only a fun sport but almost like a drug or an escape for Grace, ringette was the one thing that was able to take her mind off of everything including the pain. Almost 2 years later Grace is definitely not pain-free but because of ringette and all the amazing people that come with it, she's much better off. Grace is SO excited to share her love for the sport with all the kids at camp this summer and she hopes to see so many familiar and new faces!
